After that, the old farmer opened the bundle and handed each boy a stick. This time they were all able to break the stick very easily. The old farmer said to his sons, Look, my dear sons, this is the outcome of unity. That is the power of unity. If you can unite, no one can harm you.

An old farmer had three sons. They used to quarrel with each other. One day the farmer told his sons to bring three sticks. When they brought the sticks, then the farmer tied them together and made a bundle. He then gave each of them a bundle of sticks separately and told them to break them. Everyone tried to break the bundle but could not. The old farmer then untied the bundle and gave each of them a stick to break. This time they broke a piece of stick quite easily.
Finally, the old farmer asked them what they had learned from that example. The sons replied that if they were divided and quarreled with each other, they would become weak, and the enemies could easily destroy them.
The old farmer supports their idea by explaining that an individual can be easily defeated, but a team cannot be defeated so easily. Eventually, the sons became determined to work together and live in unity and friendship.
